2009 People's Choice - Site of the Year

Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) honored the best in heritage development during their Annual Golden Silo Awards Luncheon, Wednesday, April 8, 2009. More than 70 regional partners attended the event held at the Park Place Event Centre in Cedar Falls. 

Reiman Gardens in Ames received "People's Choice - Site of the Year." For the first time, SSNHA called for nominations and asked partner sites and visitors to vote online for their favorite site of the year.

“We are blessed in the Heritage Area with many wonderful ambassadors for agriculture’s past, present and future,” commented Don Short, SSNHA President. “The Golden Silo Awards honor their selfless dedication and commitment.”

 2008 Arts in the Workplace Award 
Presented by the Ames Community Arts Council, this award is presented to the organization that incorporates art into its business in a creative way.

2008 Attraction of the Year Award 
The Iowa Tourism Office and the Travel Federation of Iowa presented Reiman Gardens with the Attraction of the Year Award for communities over 10,000 population.All American Rose Selections Inc.

President’s Award, 2000  

Presented to one public garden in the United States each year for superior rose maintenance and display:

“For contributing to the public interest in rose growing through its efforts in maintaining an outstanding public rose garden.”

 

2007 Travel Iowa Marketplace exhibitor theme winners
The Ames booth, hosted by the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau, with donations from Reiman Gardens and Black’s Heritage Farm, was awarded first place during the 2007 Travel Iowa Marketplace held in Ames, IA on September 27, 2007. The display featured an antique potato planter, corn stalks, local produce and baskets holding local attraction brochures, and mini chocolate ears of corn. The 2007 exhibitor theme for the event was “A Harvest of Iowa Tours”. The event was held in Hilton Coliseum and featured over 90 exhibitor booths, representing a variety of Iowa tourism-related businesses and organizations.

Reiman Gardens' giant gnome, Elwood, was featured in Newsweek on page 56 of the February 14, 2011 issue. The story was written by Ramin Setoodeh and focuses on the rising popularity of gnomes, especially with the new Disney movie, Gnomeo and Juliet.  Click here to see the article.
