Guided Adult Tours
Guided tours of Reiman Gardens highlight the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing, Conservatory, Jones Rose Garden, and other areas of the Gardens. Tours are available Monday through Friday.
Adult group tours include:
- All admission fees
- Complimentary tour guide and bus driver accommodation
- A personal, trained Reiman Gardens tour guide exclusively assigned to your group
- Access to the Butterfly Wing filled with tropical butterflies in flight
- A walk through the always-changing floral display in the 5,000 square-foot Conservatory
- A behind-the-scenes look at the greenhouse and production areas
- A stroll through 14 acres of amazing outdoor gardens
Option to Add a Lunch:
Lunches at Reiman Gardens are served in your private room where you can enjoy your meal with a beautiful view and perfect setting. You can select from a number of lunch options from box lunches or catering to wine service with full course meals. Please review our Guided Tours with an Add-on-Lunch flier for more information.
Option to Add a Lecture:
An interesting lecture taken out of Reiman Gardens’ on-going series of butterfly, floral and landscape programs given by Reiman Gardens’ professional staff. The topics change regularly, so please call for details.
The fee for a one hour guided tour is $11 per person. Tours must be arranged at least two weeks in advance. Minimum group size is 10. Groups of 20 or more receive a $1 discount. Private Tours for Two to Nine
Reiman Gardens offers an intimate, private tour customized for two to nine people. Select from an indoor tour which includes an introduction, tour of the emergence windows, Butterfly Wing, Conservatory and greenhouses or select an outdoor tour which includes an introduction, tour of the Herb Garden, Rose Garden, Home Production Garden and the greenhouses. Tours are available Monday through Friday.
Cost for private tours is $25 per person. Add an extra $10 per person and have your lunch here at the Gardens in a private meeting room. Offered Monday though Saturday only. For more information, to schedule a tour, or for menu selections, please call our events coordinator at 515-294-8994.
Guided Youth Tours
Plan a visit to Reiman Gardens for a unique learning experience. Follow trained guides as they show you hundreds of native and tropical butterflies. Watch butterflies emerge from their chrysalides in the emergence cases and enjoy the plants in the beautiful tropical Conservatory. Do all of this while learning about plant and insect life cycles. All tours align with national school standards and benchmarks. Age specific tours are available for children from Pre-K to 12th grade. Tours are available Monday through Friday. Guided tours last one hour and are $6.50 per child, including admission, an orientation presentation and age- appropriate tour. Paid school staff, such as teachers and bus drivers, are admitted free. All other adults (parents/guardians) pay the regular admission fee. If your group is not affiliated with a school, such as a Boy Scout, 4-H, or home school group, two adults are admitted free.
Minimum group size is 12, maximum 50. If your group is larger than the maximum, please review our Large Group Options packet for more information.

Students will work with trained guides as they show you the amazing world of plants using the seed. The tour includes hands on activities indoors and out, pre- and post-classroom activities and a tour of the tropical Conservatory and Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing. All tours align with national school standards and benchmarks. Tour curriculum is most appropriate for 1st to 3rd grade, but age specific tours are available for children from Pre-K to 12th grade. Add on the Insect Zoo
The Iowa State University Insect Zoo is the perfect complement to any guided tour at Reiman Gardens. More information about the Insect Zoo can be found on their website at www.ent.iastate.edu/insectzoo, including costs and a reservation form. You are responsible for contacting the Insect Zoo to reserve a date – just let them know you want to do the class with your guided tour at Reiman Gardens.
If the Insect Zoo is added on to a regular guided tour, it lasts two hours and costs $6.50 per child, plus the cost of the Insect Zoo (arranged and paid separately through insect zoo staff). Minimum group size is 12, maximum is 60. If your group is larger than the maximum, please review our

Self-Guided Youth Tours
Bring your class or youth group to Reiman Gardens and explore the Gardens on their own. Age appropriate lessons that incorporate the Gardens as an outdoor classroom are available. Iowa State University Classes
Any Iowa State University class may use the Gardens for classwork without an admission charge by calling Reiman Gardens at (515) 294- 2710 to notify us of the hours of the class visit(s).
