Bonsai Show
Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The private bonsai collections of Iowa Bonsai Association members will be on display at Reiman Gardens for the Annual Fall Bonsai Show on Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7, 2012. The show will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day with a special presentation by David Lowmen from Dasu Bonsai at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Examples of beauty and meticulous care, bonsai provide the viewer occasion for quiet contemplation and often inspire admiration for the ingenuity demonstrated by the artists. A continuous slideshow on the art of bonsai will run during the show, and members will be on hand for frequent informal demonstrations. Bonsai starter kits as well as finished bonsai and other accoutrements will be available for sale from Dasu Bonsai.
In addition to the Fall Bonsai Show, October welcomes the first signs of seasonal color in the Gardens. The fall landscape has much to offer with striking ornamental grasses, vibrant mums, and colorful leaf displays on hardy trees. Inside the Conservatory, find a display entitled The Wonderful Wacky Work of Rube Goldberg. October is also the final month to enjoy the Gardens’ popular Nature Connects: LEGO® brick sculpture show.
Admission to the Gardens is $8.00 for adults and $7.00 for seniors. It is free for all CoHorts members and Iowa State University students with ISU card.
